Jharkhand News: On Monday, a high-level review meeting of the Finance and Commercial Taxes Department was held at the Jharkhand Secretariat in the state capital, Ranchi, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted regarding the state’s financial position, revenue collection, the effective implementation of budgetary provisions, and the progress of departmental schemes.
Instructions for Implementing the Biometric System
Several key issues related to the Finance Department were discussed during the meeting. These included budget estimates, revenue targets, establishment expenditure, capital receipts, and grants-in-aid received from the Central Government. Officials provided detailed information regarding the current status of the state’s income and expenditure. The Chief Minister placed special emphasis on the effective management and optimal utilization of financial resources.
During the review meeting, it emerged that, in terms of mining revenue, Jharkhand’s position is superior to that of its neighboring states, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Officials reported that a significant increase in the state’s revenue has been recorded due to the systematic management of mineral resources, transparent policies, and effective monitoring.
Expressing satisfaction over this achievement, Chief Minister Hemant Soren stated that maintaining transparency in the mining sector is absolutely essential. He issued directives to maintain strict control over illegal mining and to promote the use of modern technologies. The Chief Minister emphasized that the state’s resources must be utilized with complete accountability and transparency.
Major Claim Made During Review Meeting
During the meeting, emphasis was also placed on utilizing biometric and e-governance systems to enhance administrative transparency. The Chief Minister directed that biometric attendance systems be strictly implemented across all departments and offices to ensure accountability and to make work processes more transparent.
Additionally, discussions were held regarding the establishment of better coordination among various departments. The Chief Minister stated that there should be no lack of coordination in the implementation of schemes. All departments must work with a shared vision so that development schemes can be implemented at an accelerated pace.
During the review of the Commercial Taxes Department, specific discussions were held regarding GST compliance, tax collection, and measures to boost revenue growth within the state. Officials presented data regarding GST, VAT, professional tax, and other levies. During the meeting, emphasis was placed on curbing tax evasion, strengthening technical surveillance, and promoting voluntary compliance among taxpayers.
The Chief Minister issued directives to make departmental processes more transparent, simplified, and accountable. He instructed officials to work proactively to achieve the stipulated revenue collection targets in a timely manner. Several senior officials were present at the meeting, including Radha Krishna Kishore, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Development Commissioner Ajay Kumar Singh, Finance Secretary Prashant Kumar, and Secretary of the Commercial Taxes Department, Amit Kumar.
